The MECO-PARAS search engine for detection of helminth eggs and protozoa
The MECO-PARAS automated search engine of MECOS-C2 family is intended for parasitological analyses of faeces, waste water, soil, and other materials. The standardized techniques of specimen preparation under cover glass or in special slide-chambers may be used. The MECO-PARAS uses the MECO-SCAN scanner to produce digital copy of a specimen. The MECOS-C2-MECO-SCAN-MECO-PARAS system makes 3D virtual slide with the resolution sufficient for detection of helminth eggs or for detection of both eggs and protozoa. The virtual slide viewing on computer screen is faster and more effective than direct microscopy. MECO-PARAS performs automatic analysis of the virtual slide to detect and sort helminth eggs. Automatic MECO-PARAS detection together with visual virtual slide analysis increase sensitivity of the technique.
