Analyses by Internet

Automated microscopy allows in addition to the traditional  analysis of a natural specimen to perform an analysis of specimen's digital copy - a virtual slide (VS). VS provides with new opportunities for consulting, training, quality assessment, archiving.

Automated microscopes for VS making now are produced by all leading manufacturers. The MECOS-C2 family also has models for VS production.

Virtual slides as well as other digital models of specimens can be used to create models of different types of populations: pathologies, methods of specimen preparation, automated analysis techniques, etc.

Representativeness of such digital models of populations  thanks to access to their formation of many laboratories could be much higher than is feasible when working with natural specimens.

Internet portal MECOS-Virt

Internet portal MECOS-Virt offers its resources to accommodate different types of virtual slides, provides access to VS for various categories of organizations and persons.

MECOS-Virt provides automated techniques of robotic microscope MECOS-C2 for cloud (running remotely on the MECOS-Virt server) tests, creating a new service segment of cloud analyses.

Cloud tests allow consumers to have in their laboratories only relatively inexpensive automated microscopes for VS production without expensive functional software.

Scientific and Methodological Center of MECOS Company, equipped by  MECOS-C2 microscopes, offers counseling for the production of VS and the use of MECOS-Virt services.

MECOS-Virt supports formation of consumers' VS archives, VS viewing, comment, forwarding requests and comments, VS cloud analyses.

MECOS-Virt supports 3 different formats of VS:

MECOS-VS for fast loading; DICOM for standard communications; Google-map for long term exposition.

MECOS-Virt forms for public viewing a collection of virtual slides, kindly provided by our customers. You can see the following VS, created by Federal service of external quality evaluation (Russia). Mozilla Firefox or Opera browsers must be used:

blood smear for leukocytes formula analysis

(2D Google-map);

fecal specimen for helminth ova and protozoa analysis

(3D Google-map);

histological specimen

(2D Google-map);

Urine specimen for sediment analysis

(3D Google-map).

Laboratory telemedicine and cloud analyses
Through the MECOS-Virt remote clinics can quickly get
consultations of microscopic analyses  without delivery natural specimens to central laboratories.

With MECOS-Virt may be formed permanent or temporary telemedicine network of various specialties: cytology,  hematology, etc.

Telemedicine network consists of MECOS-Virt, peripheral and consulting terminals. The number of terminals and their location are unlimited. The terminals should be provided with access to the MECOS-Virt by Internet via standard communication lines. Recommended exchange rate is above 10 MB / sec.

Peripheral terminals (PT)
PT must be equipped with a MECOS-C2 microscopy complex or the other, capable of producing the required VS formats. MECOS-C2 can form 2D, 3D and dynamic VS's in the standard format of telemedicine DICOM or in more compact formats MECOS-VS, and Google-map format.  The last format is more slow in VS loading. Personal data can't be transfer with the VS, an anonymous identification is used.

Consulting Terminals (CT)
CT is intended to perform studies of virtual slide with the ability to provide advisory services. When using VS without personal data any personal computer connected to the Internet is suitable. Using independently forwarded from PT access keys, the consultant performs VS visual analysis, generates and sends to PT his comments and conclusions.  Analysis of the VS may be performed by functions from the MECOS-C2 (MECOS-Virt cloud analysis).
